CCM’s & NRP’s candidates officially nominated to contest St. Thomas’ Parish By-Election

Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM’s) candidate, Mr. Keith Scarborough, will vie for the position of Parliamentary Representative for St. Thomas’ Parish, Constituency #5 here on Nevis, in a By-Election slated for Thursday, March 5th, 2020.

 

This comes on the heels of Mr. Scarborough being officially nominated by Ms. Shoya Matthew of Jessups Village and Mr. Denzil Webbe of Cotton Ground before Mrs. Sherilla Nisbett, the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Nevis, 5, at the Cotton Ground Community Centre on Nomination Day, February 25th, 2020.

 

This was triggered by Mr. Joseph Parry’s resignation from the Nevis Island Assembly in (December 2019), who was the lone member of the Opposition (NRP).

 

As a result, according to the St. Kitts & Nevis (SKN’s) Constitution, “a By-Election shall be held; to fill the vacancy within ninety days of the occurrence of the vacancy.”

 

Meanwhile, the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP’s) candidate, Mrs. Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds was nominated also on February 25th, 2020. 

 

She was nominated by Jennifer Jeffers and Colin Stapleton.

 

She will also vie for the Constituency #5 seat.
