CoVID-19: Over 1000 employees are being processed for Relief fund, 500 additional applicants for PAP

Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has provided some figures as it relates to persons signing up for financial assistance, under the Relief Fund and the Poverty Alleviation Program (PAP).

 

The Social Security’s CoVID-19 Emergency $15 Million dollar Relief Fund was created to assist all working persons whose income has been directly affected by the CoVID-19 pandemic.

 

These include: Full time and part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons, whose income is impacted by the CoVID-19 pandemic.

 

In partnership with the Labour Department, the Social Security will facilitate the payment of up to EC$ 1,000.00 monthly for three months in the first instance.

 

The PAP program seeks to assist households, whose earnings are less than $3000.00 EC dollars, with a supplement of $500.00 EC dollars.
