Local Organic Compost made available to TDC 

The Vegetable Fruit Upland Crop Quality and Safety Improvement Project (VFUCQSIP), is working through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to supply locally-made Compost (decayed organic material used as a plant fertilizer) to farmers in St. Kitts and Nevis. 

 

The Compost is made up of grass clippings, leaves, green items and organic urea, as well as local cow manure sourced from Bayford’s Livestock Centre for Excellence. 

 

The VONNEWSLINE spoke with Project Manager – Mr. Augustine Nwosu who explained how the product is to be used:

According to Mr. Nwosu, some of the bags in the first batch of produce have been delivered to TDC (Trading and Development Company Limited).

 

Local farmers can also procure bags of Compost at their office at Needmust, in St. Kitts.
