Mere days left until the end of a VERY active Hurricane Season

He was speaking at the latest EOC COVID-19 Taskforce Briefing on Monday, November 23rd, 2020.

 

Tropical Storm Iota developed in the Eastern Caribbean and was tracked westwards to Nicaragua and Honduras making land fall as a category 5 Hurricane.

 

It was the 30th storm this year and the 9th in the Greek alphabet. 

 

According to unocha.org, the pace of the season so far has been frenzied even when compared with the most active year on record, 2005, which produced a record-setting 27 named storms: including 14 hurricanes and eight major hurricanes.

 

By comparison, the 2005 Hurricane Season did not reach 25 named storms until November 19th:
