Nevis Public Library Summer Environmental Awareness Programme reorganized for COVID-19 pandemic

“My Carbon Footprint, My Responsibility”

That is the theme for the Nevis Public Library’s Summer Environmental Awareness Programme.

Sponsored by the National Caribbean Insurance Company the program was originally scheduled to take place from July 12th – 30th however due to the increase COVID-19 in cases the program was modified from its usual in person format.

As part of the modifications participants were given programme packages which include craft projects (using recycled material), general information on the topic, word searches, instructions for simple at-home experiments, a tree planting exercise and other games.  The participants were also given a programme t-shirt and certificate of participation.

The VONNEWSLINE contacted Mrs. Anastasia Parris-Morton, Chief Librarian at the Nevis public Library who gave up his comment on the program reception by participants given the modifications:

The aim of the Summer Environmental Awareness Programme is to help participants understand the concept of a Carbon Footprint, to educate participants about the impact of everyday habits on the planet and demonstrate methods to reduce ones carbon footprint.
