ANOTHER BATCH OF ILLEGAL HAITIANS HELD IN POLICE CUSTODY

Thirteen Haitians and 2 Dominicans remain in Police custody after being discovered on a vessel in local waters last Wednesday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles, police authorities are still searching for the captain of the vessel.

The boat was discovered in Tabernacle Bay area by the St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard.

He said the immigrants were attempting to make their way to Anguilla and St. Martin from Dominica.

A similar occurrence took place here where 12 Haitians were found drifting in a vessel off the coast of Pinney’s on Friday 8th April.

After being held in police custody for a week, they were deported to Dominica on Saturday 16th April.
