OFFICIAL DATE SET FOR HEARING OF PAM'S CHALLENGE TO 2004 FEDERAL ELECTION
April 20, 2005

The official hearing date has been set.

Monday April 25th is the date when High Court Judge, Justice Davidson Baptiste, will begin to hear to a number of petitions filed by the Peoples Action Movement in their challenge to the October 25th Federal Elections at the Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial and Legal Services Complex in Basseterre..

On Monday, the council for the state, represented by a team of 10 lawyers, headed by Attorney General, Hon. Delano Bart presented their case to the court seeking adjournment of the case to a later date.

The VONNEWSLINE understands that the application was dismissed on the grounds of insufficient evidence.

Following the October 25th elections the Peoples Action Movement filed petitions, appealing what they described as “ irregularities and corruption in the election system”.

The petitions were filed on November 16th through the party’s lawyers Mitchum and Benjamin on behalf of Eugene Hamilton, Lindsay Grant-Political leader and Glenroy Blanchette.
