Police nabs person of interest for Deputy PM shooting incident

Police have arrested a person of interest, into the early morning Friday (March 10th) shooting incident, in Sandy Point, St. Kitts, involving the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Shawn Richards.


Currently, the detainee (whose name or gender was not disclosed) is assisting with the investigation. The incident is reported to have occurred about 3.15am, (today) Friday March 10th, in Sandy Point (St. Kitts).


Initial investigations revealed that an unknown assailant(s) fired a number of gunshots, at the home of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Shawn Richards.


Police responded and observed damages to the home and his vehicle, consistent with gunshots. The Deputy PM and other family members, who were at home at the time of the incident, were unharmed.


Officers from District “B”, the K-9 Unit and the Special Services Unit (SSU) responded and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit are processed the scene for evidence. The investigation continues.


Meantime, District “B” Commander, Superintendent Lionel Moore, stated that, “This is a rather troubling incident.”
