Premier Amory thanks retired Deputy Governor General for service

Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Vance Amory, in a statement issued earlier this week, expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Governor General for Nevis, His Honour Eustace John, on his retirement.

His Honour Eustace John, tendered his retirement notice with effect from May 1st 2017. The Governor General, Sir S.W Tapley Seaton, had accepted the retirement notice of His Honour.


Premier Amory was quoted as saying, “After 23 years, Mr. John’s service is duly noted and I want to go on record as offering my congratulations to him on his retirement but also, to offer my own gratitude to him for the work he has done for and on behalf of the e people of Nevis.”

The Premier also said (and I quote), “In the ensuing months, the Nevis Island Administration will give careful consideration to the selection of the next person, to fill the role of Deputy Governor General……

 

The post of Deputy Governor General for Nevis is a constitutionally mandated position and the Governor General, is the one who makes the appointment on the recommendation of the Nevis Island Administration.” 


The Deputy Governor-General of Nevis is appointed by the Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis to be his or her deputy and in that capacity, on behalf of the Governor-General, to signify approval or the refusal of assent to any bill passed by the Nevis Island Assembly.

 

Before being appointed, His Honour Eustace John was the Commercial and Accounts Manager at ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) in St. Kitts from 1971 to 1972 and the General Manager from 1972 to 1981.
