Acting Prime Minster issues statement on federation’s 16th murder

Acting Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Hon. Shawn Richards has issued a statement condemning the recent shooting incident at the Joseph N. France General Hospital.


In his statement Minister Richards called the incident where one individual was killed, tragic, noting that criminal activity at one of the federation’s main medical facility is of tremendous concern to the Team Unity Government.


Hon. Richards made it clear that the Government will not be deterred in its fight against crime and that those bent on terrorizing the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis will be held accountable for their crimes.


His statement reads in part “Just last week we used the Parliamentary process to introduce harsher penalties for the unlawful possession and use of firearms…….. Today is yet another stark reminder that violent crime committed with guns can occur at any time, at any place and to any of us”.


The Acting Prime Minister expressed condolence to the family of 31 year old Darnell Govia and assured them that no stone will be left unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice.


He also used the opportunity to urge the Public to assist the Police with their investigations adding that if you see something say something.
