8th person arrested and charged for fraud against government
June 26, 2017

An eighth (8th) individual was arrested and slapped with the charge of obtaining money by false pretenses, following charges brought against seven individuals earlier this year, for similar charges.

Based on a police press release issued Thursday morning (June 22nd), Leroy Davis of Middle Island (St. Kitts) was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the above mentioned offenses.

The offences were allegedly committed between Jan. 25th and March 14th 2017, where the sum of $12,200 EC was obtained from the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, under false pretenses.

The ongoing investigation into fraud against the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has accounted for the loss of $138,900 EC, thus far.

On Wednesday (May 10th), police had charged Ivas Burnham of Middle Island, Lescelia Francis of Lamberts, and Lynette and Lejon Warner of Conyers for falsely obtaining a combined total of $68,700 EC.

Police had arrested and charged Kelvin Pemberton of Stapleton Village and Daveron Flemming of Challengers Village with similar offences, three (3) days later.

Police indicated that investigations into these offences are underway.
