Driver charged for federation’s 4th fatal accident
July 06, 2017

The male driver of a Honda CRV jeep that crashed into a tree last weekend, and resulted in the death of one young man and left another hospitalized, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The driver, Nathan Chiverton of Carifesta Village (St. Kitts), went before the magistrate court and was granted bail in the sum of EC $20,000.

Chiverton was driving the jeep along the island’s main road in New Guinea on Saturday night (July 1) when around 9:30, the vehicle ran off the road and slammed into a tree.

As a consequence, Damion “Sani” Hutton and his brother Nefon Hutton, both of New Road (and who were in the back seat of the jeep at the time), were thrown from the vehicle.

The injured passengers were transported to the JNF General hospital, where Damion was pronounced dead, and Nefon warded in serious condition.

He is scheduled to appear at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Friday August 14th, 2017.
