Justice Leigertwood-Octave Presiding
November 01, 2005

The 2005 November Criminal Assizes is a historical occasion for the Judiciary system on Nevis.

Justice Inathea Leigertwood-Octave’s presiding over the cases in the current assizes makes it the first time that a separate judge has been a appointed to sit on the high court in Charlestown for matters in Nevis.

The disclosure was by Attorney General Honourable Delano Bart during September’s special sitting at high Court in Basseterre which marked the opening of the new OECS law term .

Previously the presiding judge would have been shared between the two islands which has been blamed as the cause of delay of several cases.

Justice Leigertwood-Octave would also be providing assistance in Montserrat when necessary.

Meanwhile, Justice Francis Bell who was appointed in July this year is the resident judge on St. Kitts.
