Chairman of the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration, CARICAD Douglas Wattley says that CARICAD is “CSME-ready.”

In CARICAD latest newsletter, Wattley who is also St. Kitts and Nevis Permanent Secretary for Public Sector Reform says he sees the CARICAD as a partner with respect to positioning the region to exploit the advantages that are going to make themselves available.

He further added that the organization can also assist in positioning countries to be able to forestall some of the problems that could arise as a result of the CSME.

In giving incite into the new year, Wattley said that CARICAD will be doing some institutional strengthening at because they expect to take on more initiatives.

He said he believes that CARICAD has the ability to create the internal capacity to help more public sectors to achieve excellence in 2006 and beyond.

Against the backdrop of globalization which is forcing countries to be more efficient, Wattley stated that modernizing the public sector is crucial for the Caribbean.
