The Federations continues to hold its share of major international conferences.

Last year it was the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) conference this year it’s the 58th annual meeting and associated meetings of the International Whaling Commission.

The very important meeting will be held later this year in St. Kitts and Nevis at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & the Royal Beach Club.

The Meetings are due to take place from the 24th of May to 20th of June 2006.

The sub committees of the IWC Secretariat that will be meeting here include;- Workshop on Whale Killing Methods and Associated Welfare Issues (WKM), Conservation Committee, (CC) Infractions Sub-committee ( INF),...........

..............Working Group on the Revised Management Scheme (RMS) Aboriginal Subsistence Whaling Sub-committee (ASW), Contributions Task Force (CTF ) Budgetary Sub-committee (BSC), Finance and Administration Committee F&A

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) was set up under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling which was signed in Washington DC on 2nd December 1946.

The purpose of the Convention is to provide for the proper conservation of whale stocks and thus make possible the orderly development of the whaling industry.

The main duty of the IWC is to keep under review and revise as necessary the measures laid down in the Schedule to the Convention which govern the conduct of whaling throughout the world.
