January 23, 2006

The Caribbean Export Development Agency and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Export Development facilitated program will provide trade policy and information services, business support services and services for business support organisations.

It will comprise a one-year inception phase and a consolidation phase of three years. The funding of the second phase will be subject to the positive evaluation of the first phase.

The aim of the program during the inception phase is to strengthen the Caribbean Export Development Agency, while activities during the consolidated phase will centre on trade policy and information services, business support services and Business Support Organisations.

The main beneficiaries of the overall program will be private sector enterprises, as particular focus will be placed on medium sized enterprises, which represent the majority of firms in the region and employ a high proportion of women.

Within the context of the trade and private sector development program, Caribbean Export is seeking proposals for activities to increase the competitiveness of firms in CARIFORUM countries or regionally.
