February 03, 2006

Students from St. Kitts and Nevis Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent, have graduated from the first training exercise of Regional Security System’s (RSS) 2006 program.

The training exercise held at Camp Blizzard in Antigua and Barbuda, saw 11 participants graduating from the Basic Coxswain Course.

The Basic Coxswain Course was the first course to benefit from the recommendations of an audit that was done on the training unit in November 2005.

The aim of the course was to train the Coast Guard and Marine Police Unit personnel to safely operate and navigate vessels less than 40 feet up to a 12 mile territorial limit around the country.

The Regional Security System was born out of the need for a collective response to security threats and was a recognition by several small states that they could only maximize their strengths..........

..........In defending their countries social and economic development, heritage, democracy and liberty of their people.
