CSS ELECTS IT FIRST STUDENT BODY COUNCIL IN ITS 56 YEAR HISTORY

History was made at the Charlestown Secondary School when the first student body council was formed on Monday.

The elections were held last week and the announcement was made yesterday.

APublic Relations Officer (PRO) went to Khalin Nisbett. The post of Recreation Officer went to Mika O=Brien; the post of Secretary went to Chris Liburd, the post of Treasure went to Iteka Joseph, the post of Vice President went to Damali Martin and President is Ms. Michelle Slack@ Deputy Principal of the Charlestown Secondary School, Dr. Kelvin Daley reported.

We ask him if he felt there was scope for sustain-ability for the student council.

AYes I think so... This has been indicated by the level of participation in the elections, the vigour with which the students campaigned and the excitement generated while voting. I think everybody is excited and cant wait to take a turn next year to be voted in to representing their class.@ said the deputy Principal.

He noted the school will assist by Aproviding all the help they need to sustain themselves.....a small budget, office space and as much encouragement as they can muster.
