LIDC COMMENCES TONIGHT: NEVIS AND MONTSERAT TO LEAD OFF DEBATES

Nevis will begin its campaign for the 2006 Leeward Islands Debating Competition (LIDC) against Montserrat on the opening night of the 34th annual competition this evening.

The topic for this evening’s debate is ,“Business Monopolies have done more harm than good to the development of Caribbean countries”.

The Nevis debating team includes Zinga Esdaille, Jenicia Daniel, Casey Jeffers, Datrica Morton, Shevonne Lewis and Shaniqua Liburd.

The competition which is this year being held in Antigua and Barbuda see debating teams from St. Kitts, Anguilla, Nevis, St. Maarten, Montserrat and Antigua & Barbuda battle for

the title of LIDC Champions.

Other issues such as the impact of the Caricom Single Market & Economy on small island states, sexuality in teens and the validity of marriage in the modern world will be among the topics being debated.
