SKN joins the rest of the world in observing Women’s Day 2020

“I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”

That’s the theme for this year’s observance of International Women’s Day, which was observed on Sunday Mar. 8th.

International Women’s Day is observed every year on March 8th to celebrate the women’s movement and struggle for equality, according to news18.com.

Here in the Federation, specifically Nevis, women are highlighted for the contributions they made to the public.

Last year, twelve women on Nevis were awarded by the Department of Gender in the Ministry of Health and Gender Affairs of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019.

At the ceremony held on the lawn of Government House in Charlestown, under the patronage of Deputy Governor for Nevis, Her Honour, Mrs. Hyleta Liburd, ten women were honored for excelling in traditional occupations for women, while two were honored for excelling in non-traditional occupations for women (NOW).
