World Obesity Day Road relay to be held on March 4th 

“A Fun Run in the Sun” 

 

That is the name of a road relay being held in honour of World Obesity Day which will be observed on March 4th, 2021. 

 

Obesity, according to the CDC, is weight that is higher than what is considered as a healthy weight for a given height.

 

Also, Obesity is a risk factor in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s), such as: Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart Disease. 

 

The VONNEWSLINE spoke with Senior Health Educator at the Nevis Health Promotion Unit, Ms. Shevanee Nisbett who expounded upon the road relay event: 

 

 

Ms. Nisbett gave us the reasons why a road relay is being done in commemoration of World Obesity Day:

The relay will take place on Main Street, in Charlestown from Best Buy entrance to Sir Simeon Daniel’s Bust (Statue), consisting of 5 legs.

 

To facilitate this race, traffic will be blocked for the entire route from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
