Two Nevisians receive MUA/NIA Scholarship

Two Nevisians have received scholarships to further their education at the University level.

Oresia Stapleton and Yolinda Liburd are awardees of the 2017 Medical University of the Americas/Nevis Island Administration (MUA/NIA) Scholarship.

The was revealed today (Wednesday 5th July) 2017 by Mrs. Nicole Slack-Liburd, Chairperson for the Committee and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health at the Legal Department’s conference room.

Stapleton will be pursuing Bachelors of Science Degree in Pre Radiologic Technology at the Midwestern State University in Texas while Liburd will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.

The scholarships stem from a partnership with the NIA and the MUA since 1998 for the provision of up to US$22,500 per annum for study opportunities in priority areas that are the needs of St. Kitts and Nevis.

At the ceremony both awardees thanked all individuals involved in making the opportunity available to them to pursue their studies in the Medical field.

Also present at the ceremony were Hon. Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister of Health and Committee member of the MUA/NIA Scholarship Committee Mrs. Shelisa Martin-Clarke.
