Ten (10) persons were awarded during the Independence Parade and awards ceremony, as part of celebrations to mark the 43^rd anniversary of St. Kitts & Nevis’ Independence, on Saturday Sep. 19^th.

The Nevis Island Administration held the Ceremonial Parade at the Elquemedo T. Willett Park, Charlestown.

After which, an awards ceremony was held to highlight 10 persons on Nevis. This year’s Independence awardees are:

Ira Jeffers for Community Service, Sylvia Fahie-Education (Mathematics), Floretta Taylor in the field of Education, Orion Jones-Entrepreneurship, Charles Webbe-Entrepreneurship, Oswald Browne-Electricity Generation, Spencer Powell- Electricity Generation, Mildred Martin-Public Service, Clara Smithen-Selfless Service and Hubert Jeffers-Tourism.

The Federal Government held a similar parade and awards ceremony at Warner Park, in St. Kitts.
