In light of cervical cancer awareness month which was celebrated in January, the Community Nursing Services on Nevis held its annual Pap smear screening exercise on Saturday, January 31^st.

This was held across all health centers on the island. Coordinator for Community Nursing Services, Nurse Deslyn Tyson-Whyte, told the VONNEWSLINE that 122 women were screened.

Recently, health officials disclosed to the VONNEWSLINE that they recorded an increase in cervical cancer cases within the federation.

A Pap smear, also called a Pap test, is used for cervical cancer screening.
