A seventeen (17)-year-old male has been formally charged by police for the offence of Manslaughter.

On Sunday morning Dec. 10th, a fatal stabbing incident occurred in Phillip’s Village in St. Kitts. Upon arrival at the scene, they observed Chelston ‘Ink’ Harvey, 42, of Plum Tree, Phillip’s Village lying motionless on the ground.

The District Medical Officer examined and pronounced him deceased. The juvenile was charged on Wednesday Dec. 13th, at the Violent Crime Unit (VCU) office, Stanford Building in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

An autopsy was conducted on Harvey’s body the same day (Wednesday Dec. 13th) and Resident Pathologist, Dr. Naudica A. Phillip, revealed that the cause of death was due to hypovolemic shock due to a penetrating wound to the heart.

A spokesperson for the police told the VONNEWSLINE that despite the juvenile being charged with manslaughter, “it is still a homicide…the charge was determined based on the available evidence.” In essence, SKN’s homicide toll remains at 29 for 2023.
