18-year-old man charged with SKN’s 12th & final murder for 2022

Lawmen have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man for the murder of Javrell Alford of St. Paul’s, St. Kitts, the Federation’s final murder for 2022.

 

 

 

A police communiqué says Calbert Powell of Station Street, Old Road, was charged on Sunday, Jan. 15th and is currently in Police custody.

 

 

 

21-year-old Alford was fatally wounded during the street jam  Jouvert morning Jump-up, which formed part of Carnival Activities, on Fort Street, Basseterre, on Dec. 26th 2022, sometime around 10 a.m.

 

 

 

Alford sustained what appeared to be a stab wound and was rushed to the J.N.F. General Hospital by Officers using a Police vehicle. He was being treated for his injury, but succumbed sometime later. This was the 12th and final homicide for 2022 (11 in St. Kitts, 1 on Nevis).

 

 

 

An autopsy was performed on his body by Resident Pathologist, Dr. Adrian Nuñez, who concluded that death was due to hypovolemic shock as a result of a single stab wound to the abdomen.
