2022 Atlantic H. Season: Met Officials issue gentle reminder
2022 Atlantic H. Season: Met Officials issue gentle reminder
The peak of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season has passed, but Met officials are urging all to be on guard. Most hurricanes and tropical storms produced in an average year tend to be between the period August through early October. Hence, September is the single most active month of the season.
There have been fourteen named Tropical Storms so far in the season. Seven of them strengthened into a hurricane, and two reached major hurricane intensity (Category 3 or higher on the Saffir–Simpson scale).
Last weekend saw the development of Tropical Storm Cyclone, which has caused damage to road networks, public infrastructure, etc, to several islands, including SKN. Senior Meteorological Officer at the Met Services (St. Kitts), Mr. Elmo Burke, gave this advice.
The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially began on June 1st and will end November 30th.
