2022 Last Lap Bar incident: Former Tourism Minister convicted on charges
Former Minister of Tourism et.al in the Federal Cabinet, Lindsay Grant was convicted on two (2) charges on Tuesday Nov. 14th, a police spokesperson has said.
The charges are: Battery of a Police Officer and Assaulting a Police Officer. They are in connection with an incident involving Mr. Grant accosting police officers on January 8th 2022, at the Last Lap Bar in Bird Rock, St. Kitts. In addition, a video, depicting Mr. Grant in a verbal spat with law enforcement officers, made rounds on social media in SKN.
In expressing support to Mr. Grant, who was the Deputy Leader of PAM (People’s Action Movement), PAM said its “members stand in solidarity with Hon. Grant, who…is innocent until, and unless, proven otherwise.”
The Party also mentioned that while it supports the police “it has been unfortunate that professional officers have been put under so much pressure to escalate the situation, in an apparent attempt to embarrass the Member of Parliament.” Mr. Grant’s sentence will be passed on Tuesday Nov. 21st 2023.
