2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season ended on November 30th
The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ended on Saturday Nov. 30th.
Minister with responsibility for Disaster Management-Nevis, the Hon. Spencer Brand, said in a social media post on Friday Nov. 29th, “as we conclude an extremely active Atlantic Hurricane season, we reflect on the 19 tropical depressions and 12 hurricanes, including the devastating Hurricane Beryl.”
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an average Atlantic hurricane season produces 14 named storms, seven of them hurricanes and three major hurricanes.
Minister Brand added that “Nevis experienced significant agricultural damage from Tropical Storm Ernesto, amounting to EC$290,624. We express gratitude for being spared further devastation and urge everyone to remain vigilant.” Additionally, no deaths were recorded in SKN.
