Managing Director: Merritt Herbert
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of VON, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all our listeners a very pleasant, pleasant 22nd anniversary for VON.
On this day in 1988 we flipped the door open. It wasn’t easy an easy task but so far we have come a long way.
Again I would like to thank all our customers, all our listeners all our clients far and near for helping us through this journey.
And let me say thanks to the Manager Mr. Evered Webbo Herbert and his staff, for the excellent job they have done over the years
We wish they will continue for the next 22 years and beyond.
I would also like to thank the government of St. Kitts and Nevis for their support over the years and the general public, without them we could not survive.
So again to the staff, keep on keeping on. We appreciate your generosity and your sincerity and your hard work over the years has been fantastic.
Hon. Simeon Daniel
We congratulate them and as I said when we opened it “There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the brink, leads on to fortune, neglected and we are left behind.
On such a sea we are now afloat and we must take the current as it moves or lose our ventures.
VON Radio really lived up to its ambitions and we have to congratulate the Herbert family and am sure they have a lot more to offer to humanity and mankind, during their term on this earth. Wish them all the best and may they go from strength to strength.
Evered Webbo Herbert
Notwithstanding we are not doing any big celebrations this year, however I would like to take this opportunity to just point out on a personal level my deep appreciation for two long standing members of staff..
Myers, Albert Myers who has been here from the onset from the construction of the station and still continues to be here and Eric Evelyn who joined us in 1989
And these gentlemen, I don’t even know if they get paid, but I think what they do more than anything else at the station is what we would call national service because they give and they keep giving, and I don’t know whether or not I would be able to make it without the support of those two, who have been here all the years, and that’s not to take away from everybody who has contributed but am just saying these two have been there from the onset and is a large part of the reason why we have come this far at this level.
Hon. Vance Amory
I just want to offer congratulations to Mr. Herbert and the whole family of VON Radio for the work they have done.
I think they have done a wonderful job of informing people in Nevis and the Caribbean and the whole world really.
“ really want to say one very important thing and that is we must not forget that it was VON Radio and Evered Webbo Herbert who really began the process of public interaction with the people, so that they can express their views, interact with political leaders and express their own ideas of what is happening in the community, and this I think is very important for the development of out freedom of speech and for our democratic process.
I think this is critical that VON needs to be congratulated for that kind of innovation and which has caught on so very strongly.
I want to say that I wish Mr. Herbert and his family, Mr. Merritt Herbert who is the brain behind it, having had experience in the Virgin Islands, all the best for many, many more years of service to the people of Nevis and the region and the world, bringing information encouraging the expression of ideas and the whole democratic and free speech.
J. Calvin Fahie
I want to say that the leadership over the years is what has kept this station at its pinnacle.
Mr,. Herbert Webbo has been a shinning light and I will just summarize by saying, He is one who employs critical thinking which part of Executive Intelligence.
So again I want to commend VON Radio and its leadership in approaching 22 years as the Powerhouse of the Eastern Caribbean
