A 5.2 earthquake occurred near Basseterre, St. Kitts, on Friday afternoon (Good Friday Apr. 18th).
Based on information from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC), the quake occurred at 1:31 pm local time, with its epicentre, located around 81 kilometres Northeast of Basseterre.
The earthquake’s coordinates were 17.59N latitude and 62.06W longitude and it struck at a depth of 33 kilometres beneath the earth’s surface.
It also stuck 58 kilometres Northwest of Saint John’s, Antigua & Barbuda, and 90 kilometres North-northeast of Brades, Montserrat.
According to reports from UWI-SRC, residents throughout the affected islands (Antigua, Montserrat, Dominica) reported feeling the quake. Previously, a 4.6 quake occurred near Basseterre, St. Kitts, on Mar. 29th.
