5 Global Companies Submits Bids for Nevis’ Geothermal Project

 

That was Premier, the Hon. Mark Brantley, during the July 3rd Sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly. On June 30th, 2025, the bids for the Geothermal Project was opened for the drilling of three production wells and two reinjection wells, at the Hamilton site which are intended for the development of a 30-megawatt (MW) geothermal power plant.

 

The five companies that submitted bids are the Iceland Drilling Company from Iceland, who is currently working on geothermal project in Dominica, the Marriott Drilling and Consortium Drilling from the United Kingdom and Ormat and IPS-USA based in the United States.

 

According to Premier Brantley, a technical evaluation of these submitted bids will be done by an Independent Evaluation Committee, comprised of experts from St. Kitts and Nevis as well as regional specialists provided by the Caribbean Development Bank.

 

The evaluation is expected to be completed by July 31st, 2025, after which financial proposals from the companies will also be opened and evaluated and the one who has both the highest combined technical and financial score “will be invited to negotiate a drilling contract”.
