Prime Minister and Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew announced that a fleet of five (5) new ambulances are expected to arrive in St. Kitts and Nevis, in February 2025. It was made during his first “Roundtable” engagement with the media, for 2025.
He expressed the importance of the investment, citing the brand and its suitability to the roads in the federation stating, “Toyota is well known to mechanics, well known to drivers. Parts are easy to get and because of that, we will have a longer shelf life per ambulance.”
He added, “not only that, based on our roads, we have to choose ambulances that could fit on our roads and fit up our small alleys and so forth.”
This announcement comes after recent traffic collisions involving ambulances that resulted in significant damage. The latest instance occurred on January 2nd, 2025, where 5 persons required medical attention.
PM Drew made this public appeal, “I would like to ask our people to respect the traffic rules and regulations. You might be saving your own life.”
