The Health Promotion Unit here on Nevis has planned a month of activities in order to raise awareness and early detection of breast cancer. 

Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is celebrated annually in the Month of October, helps to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). 

Cancer is a broad term for a class of diseases characterized by abnormal cells that grow and invade healthy cells in the body.
