Coroner’s inquest to conclude two incidents in 2020

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilroy Brandy has provided information to the general public as it relates to two (2) incidents that occurred last year. 

 

One incident involves a shooting incident involving a Customs Officer.

 

Last year, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Customs Department in Bird Rock on September 17th, 2020 sometime after 1:00 p.m.

 

Investigations revealed that 21-year-old Andrew Douglas received a single gunshot wound to the head.  

 

He succumbed to his injuries at the JNF General Hospital.

 

Resident Pathologist, Dr. Adrian Nunez concluded that death was as a result of severe traumatic brain injury, caused by a single gunshot wound to the head. 

 

In reference to the other incident, 59-year-old Sandra Adams was found dead in her home at Stonefort Heights Project in St. Kitts on September 26th, 2020.

 

Circumstances are that the Police responded to a call from the Emergency Medical Service Personnel from Adams’ home.

 

Upon their arrival, Adams was found unresponsive in her room, with a cord wrapped about her neck.  

 

In an update about the abovementioned incidents, Commissioner Brandy said the matters are before the Court:

A Coroner’s Inquest is a public court hearing where the coroner who is (an official who investigates violent, sudden, or suspicious deaths) determines how, when and where someone died following a post-mortem.
