Sharks proximity and volcanic activity pending confirmation 

The VONNEWSLINE has spoken with Marine Resources officials to clarify some information regarding sharks as concerns continue to circulate in the federation, regarding the creature(s). 

 

This comes following an indication that the sharks are in St. Kitts-Nevis (SKN) waters now more than ever because of volcanic activity. 

 

For a few weeks, local fishermen have caught several sharks as videos and photos have been circulating in the public domain of sightings and capture of them.  

 

Furthermore, a shark attack occurred on Saturday, January 9th, 2021, which involved a student of the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) in the vicinity of the locally named “Booby Island”.

 

Reports say the individual and others were Kayaking at the time.
