Teachers and Students to undergo second test for COVID-19, must be negative to be released from Quarantine

Students and teachers from Primary and Secondary schools in St. Kitts are awaiting their RT-PCR COVID-19 test results in order to be officially released from quarantine.

Thus far, students from the Sandy Point Primary, Seventh Day Adventist Primary and the Charles E. Mills Secondary Schools have already taken their second test.

This is due to a cluster of COVID-19 cases detected in St. Kitts over the Whit Monday holiday weekend by persons with no prior travel history, thereby resulting in teachers, students and close contacts being quarantined.

On June 1^st 2021, the National COVID-19 Task Force officially announced that there is community spread in St. Kitts.

As at June 2^nd 2021, over 3,000 people were tested for COVID-19 with 30 of those test results returning positive: a positivity rate of 0.9 percent.

Contact Tracing and robust testing will continue in a few communities to break the chain of transmission and curtail any advancement of community spread across the Federation.
