As St. Kitts and Nevis’ Independence is swiftly approaching, Chair of the Independence 39 Committee, Ms. Sharan Rattan outlined several new additions to this year’s Calendar of activities.

Ms. Rattan was quoted as saying: “We are looking forward to a Hairstyle Competition and a Dress-up in national colours competition at the (Independence) parade”.

She said both competitions are designed to tap into the creative juices of nationals and residents and will likely involve photo submissions for judging.

Ms. Rattan also remarked that a number of private organizers have submitted a few activities to be included on the calendar as well, she said:

“One will be a Cultural Fair and Fashion Show, and the other will be another type of show – The Miss Phenomenal Show”.

The calendar of activities is expected to be released to the general public next week as the committee is working to ensure that the activities flow and the venues, dates and times are finalized.
