Junior Minister of Gender Affairs in the Federal Government, Hon. Isalean Phillip officially launched Nevis’ Boys Mentorship Program on Tuesday, October 18th, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park on Nevis.
The program is also designed to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goal #5 – Gender Equality. The overall objective is to “Build Boys Excellence”.
The program is being piloted at the Nevis International Secondary School (NISS) by the Nevis Island Administration’s (NIA) Department of Gender Affairs.
It is grounded on five pillars including mentor-mentee relationships; skills training; job attachment; community service, and scholarship opportunities. Minister Phillip had this to say:
Tuesday’s event also formed part of the Prime Minister’s commitment to strengthen and improve the relationship between both islands.
