The Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority will be holding a Recycling Day for persons wishing to get their recyclable materials collected on Friday, February 24th, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Old Artisan Village.

Items to be collected will include hard plastic bottles, tin and aluminum cans. They must also be sorted, emptied and dried before carrying for collection. Plastic items should also be compressed before being brought to the site.

According to a representative, the goal of the initiative is to reduce the amount of plastics on the Solid Waste landfill as the breakdown of plastics take many years to decrease. The plastics collected will then be turned into new products.

The Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority encourages members of the public to participate in the event as the fight continues for a safer and cleaner environment for present and future generations.
