The People’s Labour Party (PLP’s) Candidates for St. Christopher #2 (Central Basseterre) and #8 (Conaree, Cayon and St. Peter’s) in the 2022 General Elections, Nubian Greaux and Andrew “Talbo” Bass, officially resigned from the Party on Saturday, March 25th, 2023.

According to Mr. Greaux’s statement, “over the last few months, he has seen a general deterioration of the values of the party and the eradication of democracy, a principle that is of great importance to him.”

He added “It is rather unfortunate that as a party, we continue to engage in a level of disrespect and disregard, of which I want no part of…I wish to therefore inform the public that as of 25th March 2023, I am resigning from the People’s Labour Party and from all associated interests within the party.”

Regardless of this decision, Mr. Greaux said he will continue “to work assiduously as a community leader.” Mr. Bass in his statement mentioned he saw “a change in the values of the party” which were not in line with his.

Mr. Bass was quoted as saying “it is now becoming clear that we cannot agree to basic democratic principles and regret that I tender my resignation from the party.” He added that he remains “resolute” in serving the people of constituency #8. On March 24th, PLP’s Deputy Leader, Akilah Byron-Nisbett, resigned from the party, citing that the party “strayed away from its core principles.”
