Federal Government announces Christmas duty-free allowances

Special duty-free concessions for non-commercial importers and travellers, will be in effect for the period November 15th 2024 to January 31st 2025, a release from the Federal Government says.

Goods that will land in the Federation during the specified period will qualify for the concessions.

This comes following the Federal Cabinet’s approval of the initiative, which will ease the financial burden on citizens and residents as they prepare for the Christmas and Carnival seasons.

The approved duty-free allowances include: Gift packages of foodstuff: The first 400 lbs will be free of duties and taxes. Non-commercial imports: A duty-free allowance of EC$675.00 (US$250.00) off the CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) value.

Considering the above-mentioned period is a time that is traditionally marked by increased spending, the Government encourages all non-commercial importers and travellers to take advantage.
