Coming on the heels of a shark attack which took place at Frigate Bay Beach, St. Kitts, on Sep. 16th (National Heroes’ Day), a nine-year-old boy will “benefit from the Children’s Medical Fund”, according to Prime Minister and Federal Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew.
On the day of the incident, the police said he was transported to the JNF General Hospital by private transport, after emerging from the sea with a severe arm injury. Since then, he has received initial treatment at the hospital and “will have to travel overseas for further medical care” PM Drew said via his Facebook page on Friday.
He expressed thanks to the Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS) “for their collaboration with the Children’s Medical Fund and for their continued excellent work in helping the sick children of our Federation.”
PALS is a non-profit organization committed to assisting local families in need of financial and other assistance in accessing overseas medical care for their children. The Children’s Medical Fund is used to assist any child 18 and under, by providing care or support for children who need lifesaving medical attention abroad.
