Divorce Filings in St. Kitts and Nevis are at an “Alarming” rate

The latest “Facts for Life Broadcast” that was aired on Sunday, October 27th at 6:00 p.m. and produced by the Seventh Day Adventist Churches on Nevis, focused on the topic: “Preparing for Marriage”.

 

Island Coordinator, Pastor Chalvar Henry highlighted previously shared statistics of divorce filings in St. Kitts and Nevis which he described to be “alarming”. These statistics showed that from the period of 2020 to 2023 that over 100 divorce matters commenced each year with a total of 514 for the four-year period.

 

Pastor Henry and his wife, Sister Nadia Henry, discussed the importance of thorough preparation before marriage, encouraging pre-marital counselling which is a practice of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and is said to be more beneficial for all couples.  Counselling sessions are also welcomed to all persons including those outside of the denomination.

 

The pair highlighted important topics such as: family dynamics, children, residence, medical history/propensities, legal documents like a will, ambitions, personality, expectations, financial matters, communication and dealing with conflict. Pastor Henry continued by saying:
