Meanwhile, the Federal Budget Debate for the 2025 fiscal year will be held from Dec. 16th to the 20th, during a Sitting of the National Assembly, at the National Assembly Chambers, Basseterre.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, will deliver his opening statement (Budget Address) on the first day of the Sitting, December 16th.
This will be followed by the rebuttal from Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, the Hon. Mark Brantley, who will be afforded equal time to respond on Dec. 17th. After which, other Members of Parliament will be given the opportunity to scrutinize and discuss the proposals.
During the Sitting, the Annual Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals for 2025, will be presented, which outlines the Federal Government’s fiscal plans and priorities for the upcoming year. The 2024 Budget, which was presented in December 2023, was to the tune of EC $1.1 billion.
