Gingerland Preschool and Grades 1 and 2 of VOJN Primary temporarily closed, following cases of HFMD
Nevis’ Department of Education, temporary closed the Gingerland Preschool and Grades 1 and 2 of the Violet O. Jeffers-Nicholls Primary School, “due to health concerns”.
Acting on the advice of health officials, the Department mentioned in a press release that “this closure will be for a period of ten (10) days and is a precautionary measure in response to confirmed cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease.”
“Comprehensive sanitization of the affected facilities will be conducted to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff upon their return”, it added. Parents and guardians are also urged to keep children who are unwell at home.

To prevent the spread of HFMD: wash hands often, teach good hygiene, disinfect common areas and avoid close contact with (anyone who has it should limit their exposure to others).
