St. Kitts & Nevis recorded its first homicide for 2025 and the first in almost 6 months. Police says they are investigating a fatal incident that occurred in New Road, St. Kitts, on Saturday April 5th, between 2AM and 3AM and resulted in the death of 60-year-old Isalin Pitt.
A police communique said “responding to a report received, officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) visited the scene and observed Ms. Pitt unresponsive in a bedroom with multiple wounds about the body. She was examined and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.”
The Force’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected some items of evidential value. A male suspect is currently in custody assisting with the investigation. Anyone having any information about this or any other criminal matter, is encouraged to contact 465-2241 or the nearest Police station. SKN recorded its last homicide in late October 2024: almost six months ago.
Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, said via his Facebook page on Monday, as he visited the Hemodialysis Unit where “Nurse Pitt worked” said “Nurse Pitt lost her life through violent tragic means and extends his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and specifically, the healthcare community.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs et.al, the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, said following the incident “violence has no place in our Society and all acts of violence, must be condemned by everyone.” Further, the SKN Labour Party extended condolences to the family of the deceased and stated “this tragedy reminds us that we must never take safety and security in our communities for granted.”
