Temporary Concessions on School Supplies from July to September

In continued efforts to ease the financial strain on families as they prepare their children for the new school year, the federal government has announced a temporary tax relief on school supplies.

 

This period will last from Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 until Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 with academic materials being exempt from Import Duty, Value Added Tax (VAT) and Customs Service Charge (CSC).

 

The concessions apply to school necessities such as uniform fabrics, textbooks, stationery, and calculators amongst other learning supplies.

Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, gave the following remarks on the initiative:

 

“Education is the foundation of our nation’s future and we recognize the financial challenges many parents face when preparing their children for school. By removing these taxes on essential supplies, we are taking concrete steps to make education more accessible while providing meaningful relief to households across our Federation”.
