Culturama is now in full swing; Culture Minister pleads to the public to stay safe during the festival

“Nevisian Pride, Second to None, Its Culturama 51!”

 

Culturama is officially open. Dubbed the greatest summer lime, a ceremony to mark the occasion was held on Thursday, July 24th at the NEDACS Cultural Complex.

 

The ceremony began with a Prayer, followed by the National Anthem, brief remarks by the Minister of Culture, Hon. Eric Evelyn, who stated that the festival belongs to us:

 

 

Further, the Culture Minister had this message for the public:

 

 

Thursday’s event also included a live Video presentation, Drama pieces, dance performances, a presentation for this year’s Slogan winner – Ms. Onisha Hunt, Itebulous featuring Masqueraders, a small award presentation for this year’s patron – Halstead ‘Sooty’ Byron, Keith Scarborough ‘King Dis an Dat’ whose celebrating 50 years as a Calypsonian and Mr. Antonio ‘Abonaty’ Liburd for his contribution towards Culturama…

 

…this was followed by a performance by Bahowla the Meek singing “Culturama Fever”, Presentations by the talented youth, Mr. Kool and Swim Wear and Ms. Culture Participants, then the cutting of the ribbon.

 

Meanwhile, the annual Empire Sports Club Aquatic Extravaganza was held on Saturday, July 26th from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Waterfront in Charlestown. Activities such as swimming and diving competitions, greasy pool, kiddie’s corner and more were held at the event. The VON NEWSLINE will provide more details on the winners in a later newscast.
