Minister Clarke engages with UN Deputy Secretary General on SDG Progress

St. Kitts and Nevis Minister of Sustainable Development, et. al., Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke, met with the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary General, H.E. Amina Mohammed during the 2025 High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The meeting reinforced the Federation’s strong partnership with the United Nations.

The HLPF held under the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is the main platform for tracking the global progress on the 2030 Agenda and the seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As the federation prepares to assume its seat on ECOSOC and undergo its Voluntary National Review (VNR) in 2026, the meeting provided an opportunity to align national efforts with global priorities.

Further, Permanent Representative to the United Nations for St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E., Dr. Mutryce Williams, commented on the importance of such partnerships, she expressed:

“Much of our developmental journey has been shaped by the pivotal work of the UN through the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) and now the SDGs, and ensuring synergies is paramount as we build resilience and sustainability to ensure the security of Kittitians and Nevisians.”A
